Hey all.

Something is wrong and causing my scheduled posts not to post. Apologies for the big gap between posts. Are people finding value in the chapter by chapter discussion?

Thanks!

    Dean,
I listened to Frozen Prospects on Audible and enjoyed the book, I was hoping to continue the series however Audible does not have the next books in the series. Can you tell me where I would find them to continue listening?

      Hi, Neil.

I’m afraid that I don’t have the rest of those books available in audio format yet. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but the rest of that series is available in print and ebook format.

Hi, I’m glad to see you got back to writing, however briefly. However, I have to ask why you’re opting to keep telling new stories when you have so many unfinished stories. I think your fan base would be happier finding out how the stories of their favorite characters ended. I loved your books but found it frustrating that you’ve never actually finished a series, and it made me want to stop reading your books. Why bother getting investing in a story that would never end? It’s no fun. I hope you find more time to write and that you use it to finish reflections and some of the other more popular stories that you’ve left fans hanging on.

      Hi, Amanda.

I’ve actually finished two series, The Guadel Chronicles and The Awakening, and my next two releases will result in the A Broken World series coming to a conclusion.

Upon finishing The Guadel Chronicles, my original plan was to just keep working on the Reflections/Dark Reflections series until I’d finished them up. For better or worse, I saw my sales of the later books in the Reflections series drop by more than 90%, which ultimately put me in a place where I couldn’t make the money I needed to survive just by writing Reflections books.

Branching out into some additional series was an effort to hopefully find something that readers would be more willing to pay for than they were the later books in the Reflections series.

I haven’t started any new series since before I stopped writing full time, so all of my current efforts are to do exactly what you’re asking for.I’m trying to finish up my existing series.

Ultimately, it is a much smaller lift to finish up the A Broken World series than it is to finish up the Reflections series, so that is where I have chosen to focus what writing time I have.

To be honest, I’m not really any happier about the state of things than you are, but once readers started pirating my books at much higher rates than they were paying for them, my ability to finish out my various stories went way down.

      All the best,

      Dean

Also, I hope that doesn’t come across too much as a grumpy old men. If you’re one of the readers that has paid for my books rather than pirating them, I’m really grateful for your support, and I’m really sorry that it’s taking so long to get all of the threads wrapped up.

      Hi, Emily.

If you are one of the readers who have purchased the Reflections books (as opposed to pirating them), I’m really sorry that you haven’t been able to finish the series yet. Once my books were loaded up to the torrents, my writing income cratered, which meant that I could no longer write full-time.

I’m like a lot of you, I worry about losing my job, or my pay not keeping up with inflation even if I do manage to hold onto my job. Given, those concerns, and the fact that my day job is subsidizing my writing at this point, everything is just going to take a whole lot longer than it used to.

I hope to release the next A Broken World book within the next 6 months or so, and the 7th book in that series within 6 months or so after that. How well those books sell will determine how much time I’m able to put into the next project, and how quickly I’ll be able to release it.

I’m still planning on finishing up Reflections/Dark Reflections, and the Compelled Chronicles before I start any new series (if I start any new series).

If I get discovered by a new generation of readers who buy a bunch of books, or my writing gets optioned for a movie, then getting the series finished up could be a fast process. Otherwise, it’s likely to be a slow process.

      All the best,

      Dean
