Dean’s Kickstarter

Hi, Everyone.

Most of you will have already gotten my email before you make it over to here, but just in case I’ve got some people who stop by before the email goes live tomorrow morning, I’m doing a Kickstarter project to see if I can pre-sell enough copies of my next book to let me keep writing rather than going back to accounting.

Here is the Kickstarter page.

As most of you have come to expect with Kickstarter, the more funding this project gets, the better the rewards get, so I’m hoping that once you’ve backed the project, you’ll tell everyone you know about it. 🙂

You’ve got the project above, and here is the link to the video we put together for the project (embedded below).

This is a terrific idea! I’m in and I’ve gone to Kickstart and posted on Facebook. I sincerely hope that I am just the first of a landslide. Best wishes and I wish you and yours all the best this holiday season and I hope your new year is bright and shining!

      Hi, Jessamy.

I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you–I just can’t seem to kick this sickness and it’s got me hugely behind. I’m so glad that you love the idea of the Kickstarter project. Thank you so much for both backing the project and for posting on Facebook!

Thank you for the well wishes as well–I hope that you and yours have a wonderful 2017!

      All the best,

      Dean

    Hi Dean,

The cold in its lesser form has moved west and my house is sneezing, whimpering and damply coping with the adventure of the new year. I hope you feel better soon and that things look bright. Good luck and I have great faith in you!

      Thanks, Jessamy.

My fever finally broke, so I’m doing better. I’m still weak from being sick for so many weeks, but hopefully my strength will come back quickly. I hope that the sick ones in your house feel better soon!

Ok Dean, what do I have to do? I LIKE the sound of this project.
Sorry I’m so slow to get the point, maybe it the heat, it’s very hot and humid here in Australia, so, I like ebooks, how much will it cost me to be a part of this project?
Wishing you and yours all the best.

      Hi, Tish.

If you go to the Kickstarter project page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1572526516/found-an-urban-fantasy-paranormal-romance-novel) the second option on the right is to back the project for $3. Assuming that the project hits the funding goal before the deadline runs out, that will get you an ebook copy of Found. If there are others of my books that you’ve been meaning to buy but not yet purchased, you can check out some of the reward tiers further down. I offer up bundles of books at pretty steep discounts from their normal price.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

      Thanks,

      Dean

Hey,I just signed up to your mailing list, and I really enjoyed your book Hunted,I read by accident! It was so good! I hope that you send the rest of the dark reflections series to my email. I’ve read bound and hunted. I’m currently not in the position to actually buy your books yet,but when I am, I’ll be purchasing as many as possible. Please let me know if they can be sent ,through email. Thank you.

      Hi, Lisa.

I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed both Bound and Hunted. If you sign up for my mailing list you can get a collection of 6 other books that are starters for my other series, but ultimately I give away books in order to hook people on a given series so that I can sell them the rest of the books in the series. Me spending time emailing free copies of those other books to people just ensures that I won’t make any money from my writing which is the one sure-fire way to ensure that I’m never able to write anything again.

If you don’t have the money to buy the rest of the books in the Dark Reflections series right now, you might try going to your local library and seeing if they will order in copies of my books. That way I get a couple of dollars per book, you get to read them, and hopefully other library patrons will see them and end up getting hooked on my stories.

      Regards,

      Dean

    Hey

I really love your reflections universe series with Alec and Adri. I’ve only just gotte into it and after getting the free copy of Broken I immediately couldn’t resist buying the rest of the series. Is ‘Found’ going to be written or have you stopped writing now? As i noticed on your Kickstarter page that it has not achieved the funding you ideally hoped for? Does this mean this is the end of you Reflections series books?

    Thank you

      Hi, Amanda.

I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed the books so far. I still very much want to write, but the Kickstarter campaign didn’t fund, so no money changed hands. I have accepted a full-time accounting job that isn’t allowing any time to write (as evidenced by the fact that it’s taken me more than a month just to find the time to approve and respond to your comment here).

I’ve thought of an idea or two that might allow people to help support me in writing the rest of the series, but haven’t had time to put any of that down yet. I’ll try to keep people in the loop via my mailing list as things develop.

      Dean

I just saw that the funding didn’t make it. Will there be any other way to help the book come out? I have just restarted the series again and I can’t wait for it to continue. Will you try funding again or just write in your available time?

      Hi, Michila.

I’ve kicked around the idea of just putting my paypal address out there and letting people who want to support my efforts donate, but I haven’t managed to get enough free time yet to even write that up let alone get to any of the more enjoyable writing I want to do.

I was thinking something to the effect of people who donate $4 get a free ebook when I release something. People who donate at some larger amount would get the book and a chance to jump on a 30 minute conference call with me and the other top-tier supporters, and people who are between $4 and the top tier would get a copy of the recording I do of the big skype call. I don’t know how that would go over though–support for the Kickstarter campaign wasn’t great and I had a ton of people who were very vocal against the idea of me getting any money in advance of a book being released. What do you think of that idea?

Work is very hectic, and the kids (especially the baby) need a ton of time. We’re starting to settle into our new place (we had to move for the new job). Hopefully once we are unpacked and our home in Logan is sold I’ll be able to start working on edits of the manuscripts that I’ve already written, and then eventually get to writing new stuff in the Reflections Universe.

Hi Dean! I just finished reading Marked and i was wondering when the next book will be coming out? I have already signed up for the mailing list! I have read all the Reflections and Dark Reflections books and i was wondering when you would be releasing the next books for each series! I love your work and i have gone through both series in less than a week!!

      Hi, Allegra.

I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed the Reflections and Dark Reflections books. I’ve just responded to some other comments on this post that have a bit more information, but the long and the short of it is that I’ve had to take a full-time accounting job, and free time is vanishingly small for me right now. I’ve got edits to do on the rest of the Broken World books. Once that happens I can turn to writing something else, but It’s been three months since the Kickstarter campaign failed to fund and I haven’t had the time to do any writing, so unless something major changes, wait time for the next Reflections Universe title will be measured in months and years rather than days and weeks. I’m sorry I don’t have better news.

Hi, Katrina. I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed the Reflection Universe so much, and that you also picked up The Awakening books.

I’ll do what I can to get back to writing, but it’s going to be a while given the other commitments I’ve had to take on. You can get more of the details in the other comments I’ve responded to tonight–I wish I had better news.

    HI Dean,
I just started your Reflections and Dark Reflections series this month, and am sad your campaign didn’t go well. I really do hope that you will continue writing as it would be a shame for Alec and Adri’s stories to not get finished and will drive me nuts wondering what should of happened. This is a wonderful world you have created.

      Hi, Laurie.

I’m glad that you’ve been enjoying the books! I’m likewise sad that the campaign didn’t go well, but those are the breaks sometime. I’ll continue trying to fit bits of writing in as I’m able, and hopefully Alec and Adri’s story will be finish.

So how’s the progress going on the books? I finished the last one in the series a while back and I’m going crazy wondering what’s next for Alec, Adrian, and all of their friends and family. Hope everything is going well and I look forward to reading your book whenever it comes out. Best wishes!

      Hi, Jennifer.

I’m slowly working through edits on the 5th dystopian book. I’ll send out an email once it’s done. From there it’s edits on the 6th Dystopian book.

      Thanks,

It’s been a while since there has been any comments so I’m not sure if this is still used or not but I felt compelled to comment. I started reading the Reflection Series while I was a freshman in college I 2013 and I remember being captivated. I recently reread all of the books and I can’t help but to crave more. I understand that life situation pull us in directions that we often do not desire but I am glad that I got to experience your gift while you were able to share it.

    Thank you
